As an experimental model for art fairs, Art Africa Miami, on its 2020 celebration, brings ten years of innovation and keeps all marks of the achievements of previous editions. We dare to bet on change.
NEIL HALL, FOUNDER
ART AFRICA MIAMI
"Art has always been a tool to claim space, build power and question the injustices that have shaped our social experiences. In the world of art and culture, artists offer the viewer a chance to challenge society by bringing new meaning to the way we perceive the world."
Art Africa Miami is a unique curated fair that showcases visual works from the best emerging and established artists from Africa and its diaspora, during Miami Art Week.
The Art Africa Miami-2020 edition is dedicated to the cultivation, support, and advancement of new and established voices in contemporary African, Diasporic, and African American artists. We are providing a better knowledge of African art and vision to the diverse visiting audiences, collectors, scholars, critics, and curators.
The next edition of Art Africa Miami will take place in the historic community of Overtown, Miami, on December 1–6, 2020. In its 10th edition, through its Art Overtown project, Art Africa Miami comes with a year-long program before and after the art fair. Moreover, exploring black reality and social transformation issues. It is aligned as a community-oriented art initiative to develop a strong engagement with the South Florida community.
The Art Africa Miami art fair innovates the standard fair model. We are working with a curatorial team on a selection of artists from galleries, artist-run exhibition spaces, and non-profit organizations.
Through dialogue with an architecturally designed venue, the artworks are exhibited as a museum narrative exhibition. Presented by projects rather than by gallery booths. It also provides visitor information and references about African art, its artists, and the communities that inspire their vision.
